Welcome to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Egypt!
Throughout history, Armenians have developed close contacts with Egypt and its people. The relationship between our two nations goes back to the pharaonic times. It intensified during the Byzantine rule, then Fatimid Caliphate times and reached its apogee in the reign of Muhammad Ali. Prosperous and flourishing Armenian community was established here in Egypt, and for centuries Egyptian Armenians have had a great input towards the development of culture, economy and science in Egypt.
Since the independence of Armenia in 1991, extremely close and friendly relations have been established between our countries. During these years they witnessed dozens of bilateral visits on different levels, mutual assistance in international organizations, exchange of expertise and specialists, hectic schedule of cultural events, and beneficial projects in the sectors of Information Technology, Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals, Health and Education. By signing more than 30 agreements, protocols and memoranda, a solid legal base for cooperation was created.
Being in charge of the Armenian-Egyptian relations, we believe that it is important to share the latest developments in that field and the Embassy's activities, as well as the necessary information and links that can guide you through Armenian history, politics, business and culture.
We will be happy if this site becomes an additional practical tool for further deepening of the cooperation and friendship between our two great nations.
Sincerely, Dr. Armen Melkonian Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt
