VISA Application Guidelines

A letter of invitation is required from Armenia to obtain a single-entry tourist or business visa for a stay up to 21 days. For stays longer than three months, a residency permit must be obtained through the Foreign Ministry in Yerevan. Here is the list of countries nationals of which may apply for visitor visa only with invitation. Please make sure that your inviting party has verified the invitation for business travelers at the Consular Department of the Armenian Foreign Ministry; for private travelers - at the Passport and Visa Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia). Confirmations for business travelers are received at the Armenian diplomatic mission or consular post via internet. Private travelers must submit the original invitation form. This provision does not apply to nationals/citizens of listed countries with proof of Armenian ethnic origin, members of families of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and those with proof of Armenian ethnic origin.

Armenian entry visas can serve as transits (up to three-day’s stay) in other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Those interested in a longer stay in other CIS countries either before or after their entry into Armenia must obtain separate visas from appropriate Embassies.

To obtain a visa through the Embassy, applicants are required to submit the following paperwork to the Consular Section:

• A filled out visa application form (which can be dowloaded below).
• One recent passport-size photo, attached to the application form. The picture can be black-and-white or color.
• The original passport valid for 4 months.
• A visa fee depending on the type of visa (please consult the Consular Section as the fees are subject to change)

A transit visa is required if Armenia is a stopping point to travel on to other countries. This type of visa can be obtained only in case of having a basic visa. A transit visa is valid for three days.

It takes up to two weeks to process a visa application. A speedy processing is available upon request.
